July 4th was great for Kate. She loved doing sparklers with Briley...and YES she was trying to touch the flame on the sparkler. Little daredevil!

Had a birthday...

Hunted Easter eggs...(not very fond of that this year)!

Went to church on Easter Sunday...

Earlier that morning, the Easter Bunny visited!!

All tuckered out on July 4th...

Papaw cut hay and Kate had to check it all out...

We celebrated Father's Day...

Sorry that the pictures are not in the right order...I can't ever get that right! This was just some of the highlights over the last couple of months. I'm going to have to do this more often!

Fun @ Mamaw's and Papaw's

Kate loves swinging in her swing at Mamaw's and Papaw's. She never stops laughing while she's in it. It takes her breath away.

She didn't really want to get in it by herself, so guess what??? I had to get in with her. That pool is not for adults. Maybe next time she will want to get in it by herself...we will see....

I just loved her expression on her face in this picture. The water was hitting her in the face. Soooo cute! I have a feeling that summer is going to be so much fun!

Kate's big party was on May 30th. I just can't believe she is one year old! Where has the time gone? She's learning so much and getting so big. Her birthday party was a big success. I had a great time getting ready for the party from making party hats to baking the cake (didn't decorate it though, I have to give credit to my Aunt Doris for that. She did a wonderful job!). Friends and family joined us to celebrate. Kate and I would like to thank everyone who came. You all are the BEST!

Here are a few pictures from the beach. The weather was wonderful on Monday in Panama City. I couldn't get over how much Kate loved it! She crawled around in the sand all day. She also ate lots of sand. I tried to get her to stop, but it was a losing battle. Preston and Faith had a great time playing in the sand with Kate too. I'll post more pictures later.

I don't know who had more fun decorating this year...Kate or my parents. I just love watching Kate experience all the sights of the season. She absolutley loves looking at the lights on the tree and the little village that lights up. If she could only crawl...you know she would be into everything!

I'm a little late getting the Thanksgiving post up, but here it is anyway. I love this picture of Kate. I didn't get many pictures, I was busy visiting with everyone. I think my mom got this shot. Just wanted to say THANKS to having such a great family!

I know I have documented alot of Kate's firsts, but this one tops them all...

I think pizza will be Kate's favorite food! I let her try a bite of my piece and the rest is history. I knew she would make a mess so I stripped her down to her diaper and put her in her high chair. She had a blast tearing in to that piece of pepperoni pizza!

Kate's first Halloween turned out good. She got to experience everything a little girl should, from carving a pumkin to trick or treating! I think at this age we do it all for ourselves, but I love it! As you can see in the last picture, she had a big night!

Here are some more pictures from the trip to the Mountains. I want to thank Mom and Dad for taking us on such a great trip. It was a great way to get away and relax. I am so thankful to have a wonderful family that supports me so much. No matter what I go through, Mom and Dad are there for me! I love to watch them with Kate. It seems like they are having a ball with her. I just wanted to let them know how much they mean to me and Kate! WE LOVE YOU!

Smoky Mountians

Here are a few pics of our trip to the mountians. We have been here since Monday and we are coming home on Thursday. The trees are beautiful and I have had a great time with my parents and Kate. I will post more pics and highlights of the trip later!

4 month shots

Kate got her 4 month shots today. She was a trooper! Last time, she cried her only real tears she has ever cried. Today she cried a little, but I took tea bags to put on her legs and it seemed to take the sting away. I will always take tea bags for shots in the future. It works! She seems to feel a little sluggish tonight though.

She weighed 14 pounds and was 25 inches long. She seems to be doing great.

I told her that if she did a good job at the Dr. office, I would buy her something. (ha ha) She got a new pair of Nike tennis shoes! (Sorry, no pics this time!)

Hannah Montana for a day

Recently at school we had to dress up like a famous singer. The only thing I could think of that Kindergarteners would recognize is Hannah Montana. Kate didn't know what to think at first. When I dropped Kate off at the sitter that morning, I was glad no other parents were dropping off their kids when I dropped her off!

When I got to school, I fit right in with the other Hannah Montanas. I was actually Miley Cyrus (the brown hair), but 5 year olds only know her as Hannah. I kind of liked dressing like her. Maybe this will be my new fashion!

My dad has the best time spending time with Kate. The other day they were in the yard and I was on the deck capturing some moments they shared. He said the other day that the tree in the first picture looks like a "Kate" tree. The branches are low and she will probably end up in it. I love how he takes the time to show her simple things such as how the grass feels on her feet (which she doesn't care for) and how it feels to sit in a tree. These pictures are priceless!

Shopping

Kate and I went scrapbook shopping in Clarksville Saturday. We went with Leslie, Mimi, Kara, and Henry. This is the view from the back seat in Leslie's Tahoe. Kara and I were stuck in the back of the bus! The car seats were blocking the door, so we had to climb out the back hatch all day! By the end of the day Kara had decided the Tahoe needed 6 doors!
Henry and Kate were the best little babies! They are growing up so fast. They are starting to notice each other when we hold them close together or sit them beside each other. I can't wait until they raise up and try to talk to each other in the car seats! I wonder what they will discuss?

Ok. Here is the water jug that Mimi got me at the gas station. I asked her to get me 2 bottles of water (remember, I am in the back and I don't want to climb out of the hatch). She comes back with one regular bottle of water and this. She said "It was cheaper." It was so funny. I am so glad she was being so thrifty! I am still working on drinking it!

This morning I was playing with Kate in the bed and she found her feet! I have been waiting for her to do that and she finally did! She tries so hard to get her toes in her mouth. She just grunts and groans! It is the cutest thing!

I went to see Steve race at Beech Bend finally! Regina rode to Bowling Green with me so Kate would have some company in the back seat. The race was GREAT! Steve placed third on the second race. Kate enjoyed the race too. She sat in my lap for the firs 50 laps and watched the cars go by. It looked just like she was watching what was going on. She couldn't stay awake for the last 50 laps, it was her bedtime. We had a great time and I can't wait to go again!

A couple of weeks ago, Leslie and I went shopping with the kiddos. They were so good considering how many stores we drug them through. They were even well behaved at Texas Roadhouse! They finally gave it up in the car at the same time! These pics are priceless and I would bet they will make it to a prom slideshow someday!

Labor Day Picnic

I am posting pics of the Labor Day Picnic at Aunt Doris' house. We always cook hamburgers for lunch and steaks for supper on the grill. It is always so much fun to just be with everyone and hang out all day. It is tradition that all the guys shoot clay pigeons and the kids swim in the pond. I don't guess I've grown up enough, because I found myself cooling off in the pond with Kate! She loved it! (All but the mouth full of pond water!) I am so glad Kate has such a big family that cares for her so much. She is only three months old, but she is already making memories that will last a lifetime!

Kate's Uncle Lewis finally paid up on his bet!

Before Kate was born Regina recorded guesses on her birth weight. Whoever guessed correctly was to change a diaper. It took him about 10 weeks to get the nerve up, but he finally did it!

First day at the babysitter

Kate spent her first day at the babysitter on Monday. She is staying with Charlotte Morris (Nanny) and her two daughters Kendra and Erica. She seems to like it pretty good. When I went to pick her up on Monday she was laying in the middle of the kitchen table on a pillow and Erica was talking to her. She may get even MORE spoiled, if that is even possible!

As for me, I did fine. I didn't even shed a tear! It really helps when you can feel that comfortable leaving your little one with someone you trust.

2 Month shots!

Kate got her 2 month shots on Monday. She cried her first real tear in the Dr. office. I think I teared up too! That is just awful! She ran a temp for a couple of days. The pics were taken on Monday right after we got home. She is such a trooper. Even though she didn't feel good, she still kept the smiles going!

A day on the farm

Dad, Kate, and I go out on the farm every afternoon. This is a typical day on the farm. We've been cutting the corn out of the garden and feeding the cows. Kate is usually asleep by then. She just loves riding on the Mule!

I wanted to buy Kate a kiddie pool this summer, but I figured she would have just as much fun in her bathtub outside. She had so much fun kicking and squirming in the water. Afterward we just sat under the umbrella while she dried off. She actually dozed off. I thought I was going to catch some sun, but I was having too much fun in the shade with Kate! I think I have myself a waterbug!

Skunk trap???

If anything can happen, it can happen to my dad. My dad set a coon trap in his garden because it was eating the corn. This morning we got up and he found a skunk inside it with two baby skunks trying to nurse outside the trap. He was stumped on how he was going to get the skunk out of the trap without getting sprayed. My brother, Lewis came to visit at the wrong time. They didn't get spryed, but you could smell the skunk outside. I am so glad I had my camera ready. The funny part is at the end when Dad is chasing the baby skunks with a stick!

My Uncle Norman made it out of surgury yesterday. It was supposed to be a 2 hour surgury and it ended up being 6 hours. They found a lot more to do after they started the surgury. My parents and I went to see him today and he seems to be doing well considering he was in surgury for so long. The doctors seem impressed that he is doing so well. Still keep praying for him, he has a long road ahead of him.

Please keep my Dad's brother, Norman Flener, in your thoughts and prayers. He is in the hospital and is going in for surgury today. They are going to remove a tumor from his stomach. I am glad Kate brought a smile to Uncle Norman's face yesterday! I will keep you updated on his progress, just keep praying for a good outcome!

We went to Paducah shopping last Friday. I had to find Kate an outfit for the 4th of July. I couldn't decide which one to get, so she got three! The picture above is of Mommy and Kate at Ponderosa. She was in a really good mood after a long day of shopping.

Kate went to meet her new friend, Jack Henry today. He is Leslie and Steve's newest addition. He is so cute and cuddly. My mom went with us and she asked Leslie if she still wanted to trade babies, and she said no! As you can see, Kate made herself known while we visited! Henry was so good.
